Coronation Connections

May 5, 2023

Everyone at Metrus would like to extend our congratulations to Their Majesties King Charles III and Queen Camilla ahead of their coronation this weekend.

As London’s Leading Independent Property Advisors we’re excited to witness this historical occasion in the city, especially as the many of the properties we manage have royal connections.

The Coronation Procession – Saturday 6th May

The King’s Procession will begin at Buckingham Palace, with King Charles III and Queen Camilla travelling in the Diamond Jubilee State Coach accompanied by The Sovereign’s Escort of the Household Cavalry.

The Procession will proceed down The Mall, passing through Admiralty Arch and south of King Charles I Island. From here, the Procession will turn down Whitehall, along Parliament Street and travel around the east and south sides of Parliament Square.

The final part of the route travels along Broad Sanctuary and arrives at Westminster Abbey, with the Coronation Service beginning at 11am.
After the coronation ceremony is complete, Their Majesties King Charles III and Queen Camilla will begin the Coronation Procession in the historic Gold State Coach following the same route as the King’s Procession but in reverse, from Westminster Abbey to Buckingham Palace.

Metrus Managed Properties with Royal Connections

We’re proud to manage many iconic London properties, many of which are of historical significance and have Royal connections.

One Strand, London WC2

Overlooking Trafalgar Square, One Strand has borne witness to many coronation processions over its history and offers a prime location to view the royal procession as it turns between The Mall and Whitehall.
One Strand was also the first building in London to have a numbered street address!
We have managed this iconic mixed-use property for over 10 years, overseeing an extensive refurbishment as well as recently obtaining a Platinum WiredScore accreditation for best-in-class connectivity.

100 Pall Mall, London SW1

Running parallel to The Mall, we have managed this eight storey, Grade II listed building adjacent to the RAC Club since 2019.
With 65,000ft of office accommodation and a private residential penthouse, this desirable property is fully-occupied.
The proximity of Pall Mall to Buckingham Palace means it has many seen many Royal visitors pass down its streets. Most notably, Princess Elizabeth (later to become Queen Elizabeth II) broke with tradition and mingled with the public on Pall Mall during the VE Day celebrations in 1945.

The Royal Exchange, London EC3

A prestigious Grade I listed building situated within the Bank Conservation area opposite the Bank of England and Bank Underground Station.
Since 2018, we have managed 68,000 sq ft of office and ancillary accommodation arranged over the mezzanine and four upper floors, and overseen the external refurbishment of this iconic building.
The Royal Exchange was granted its Royal status by Elizabeth I and is one of the few locations in London where the national Accession Proclamation of the new sovereign is announced.

Burlington Arcade, 51 Piccadilly, London W1

For over twenty years we have managed the oldest shopping arcade in the world, with a prestige scheme of over forty ‘Houses’ of the highest quality retailers in a world-renowned setting.

The Burlington Arcade is home to several retailers which are firm favourites with the royals or hold Royal Warrants in recognition of the continuous supply of goods or services to the Royal Household.

Warrant holders include Bollinger Champagne, Hancocks – the jeweller that made the Victoria Cross, Crockett & Jones – handcrafting shoes since 1879, and Thomas Goode – purveyors of fine china, porcelain and tableware. Security at the arcade is undertaken by the equally famous ‘Beadles’, who form the ‘smallest and oldest police force in the world’.

The coronation of King Charles III marks another momentous occasion that underscores the deep historical and cultural significance of London’s iconic buildings.
At Metrus we have expert knowledge, experience, and a deep understanding of the unique challenges of managing London properties. We work closely with our clients to optimise their buildings’ operational and service levels. We research thoroughly, manage carefully and help our clients plan for tomorrow.
